Repeat on completion

Feature Request

Please add a "Repeat on Completion" (or "Repeat after completion") option for recurring tasks.

How it should work:

When enabled, the next occurrence of the task is automatically scheduled based on the date/time you actually complete the current instance — not on a fixed calendar schedule.

Example: You have a task set to "Repeat every 3 days."

You complete it on Monday → the next one appears on Thursday.

If you complete it late on Wednesday → the next one appears 3 days after Wednesday.

Why this is useful:

Perfect for habits, chores, maintenance tasks, or anything where consistency matters more than hitting exact calendar dates.

Prevents tasks from piling up or becoming overdue when life gets in the way.

Complements TimeFinder’s flexible, adaptive time-blocking philosophy.

This is a very popular feature in other task apps (often called "Repeat from completion date") and would be a huge win for users who want realistic recurring routines.

    This is a cool feature! A related feature request is “Pinned Tasks”. Amazing Marvin and Ellie Planner does it. Essentially the idea is that the template task can be scheduled as a task but the template task is never finished. You just check off the task. This way it is really easy to schedule your chores, etc by your own schedule(and not some automation which just piles up tasks sometimes leading to a mess)

    Actually there is a setting in TimeFinder that allows this(schedule task copies, doesn’t finish toggle). However I am using that feature for something entirely different(pinned tasks) so hopefully he never removes that. I spam that daily.

    Fabulous idea, thanks so much David! Always grateful for users who bring up other apps’ clever ideas! For that matter, could you share which app you’ve used that does this the best? Seeing their UX/UI could help me do this better and faster. Thanks!

      The app that does “Repeat on Completion” best is TickTick. They call it “By Completion Date” (instead of By Due Date). It automatically schedules the next occurrence based on when you actually finish the task.
