Show a time remaining icon at the top of the schedule page showing time remaining from the day (customisable by the user to a work day 8hrs, weekend 16hrs…etc.
What would be your main use case here? In other words:
Are you looking for a simple countdown indicator conveying “You have 4hrs 35 minutes until end of the workday at 5pm”
Or are you looking for something that takes your schedule into account, like “You have 1.5 hrs of unplanned/free time before the end of the workday at 5pm”?

Hi Luke,
I was considering option 1, so you know how long is left until the end of your work day, thereby giving you hours remaining to complete tasks.
Option 2 would be good if it was displayed on the schedule between the tasks as a faint duration e.g. you have an appointment in the morning and one in the afternoon and between these tasks show a faint time remaining “7hrs” and when a new 1hr task is added at lunch this remaining time gets split either side of that task “3hrs” before lunch task and “3hrs” after the task.
